October 14, 2011Well, it might not have been the biggest Ignite event, but what it lacked in attendance it certainly made up for in enthusiasm. A huge “thank you” to all the people who helped make last night’s Ignite Princeton 3 a success. Our great presenters, many of whom traveled from other states. Our wonderful sponsors and volunteers who helped the evening run smoothly. To the excellent staff at the Nassau Inn who continue to take such good are of us. Thank you to you all.
We’ll be posting videos and photos in the very near future (like in about a week) and will be planning Ignite Princeton 4 as one of the Ignite events in next year’s Global Ignite Week. Looking forward to seeing you then and there. IN the meantime, check out Ignite Show for over 1500 recorded Ignite presentations.
Ignite Princeton 3 is coming!

The next Ignite Princeton is all set for Thursday October 13 at 7:00 pm at the Nassau Inn in downtown Princeton, NJ. We’re preparing for another fun-filled and knowledge-crammed evening with passionate people willing to be briefly and boldly brilliant.
Submissions for presentations are being accepted. This is a great and safe forum for people who have not done much (or any) public speaking before but want to give it a try. At only 5 mins it is an excellent way to share without being completely overwhelmed by the experience. The audience is always supportive and enthusiastic in their attention to speakers. So, what have you got to lose?

Yes, the tickets are $7 (this is not a money-making venture at all) and the reason for the cost is that from a psychological perspective if people pay a nominal fee they are more likely to show up than if tickets are free (which they were for Ignite Princeton 1.) We know this firsthand because for our first Ignite we had a 50% no-show rate, while for Ignite Princeton 2 we had a 15% no-show rate.
Regardless of whether or not you present, we look forward to seeing you there.

Less than a week to go to Ignite Princeton 2
February 3, 2011Hello there – greetings from Ignite Princeton HQ. Things are rocking and rolling along for our next Ignite event.
If you haven’t registered, what are you waiting for? A written invitation?
Here’s the link, (yes, it’s a LINK) in case you’ve overlooked it once or twice before.
We are shy of our 10 presenters this go around, but we have a fun evening planned. A Make: event to warm up the early arrivers. Feel free to bring your business cards or PDAs/Address books so you can network. That’s part of the fun of the evening, meeting new people.
We’ll have some great presentations on a wide range of topics – no details until the evening – that’s another part of the fun, too. Needless to say, prepare to meet passionate people passionately presenting. We’ll also throw in a few Ignite Karaoke (an unexpected hit from last year), as well as a new activity or two.

Two Weeks to Go! Ignite Princeton 2 is coming together in a hurry

For those of you interested in coming, for less than the price of a movie ticket you have the opportunity to network in the wider Princeton community, have your worldview expanded just a little by some very interesting people, and have a laugh (yes, there will be laughter!)

Ignite Princeton 2 – We’re on for Wednesday February 9
December 17, 2010Hello! It’s been too long since we had an update. And the news is good…
Ignite Princeton coming to town during Global Ignite Week. We had so much fun last time we’re going to do it all over again. For those of you who don’t know about Ignite events we have some information for you.
We plan on keeping you up to date on the preparations for the second Ignite event to be hosted in Princeton. The second event is on Wednesday February 9 at 6:30 pm at the Nassau Inn in Princeton, NJ.

Now comes the fun part. We’re looking for up to 80 attendees and 16 presenters. The presentations subjects can and should be as varied and unique as possible. There is no real limit on the type of presentations (take a look at the Ignite website or YouTube searching on the ignitenight channel to get an idea of the variety.)

UPDATE: Ignite Princeton 2 – Not on October 14 – pushed to early 2011
July 28, 2010After the great success of the first Ignite Princeton during Global Ignite Week last March, we were looking to hold our second one in the Fall on Thursday October 14th. That will not be the case. Scheduling became too much to manage and now that we are running into the last quarter of the year it has been decided to postpone the next Ignite Princeton to early 2011. More information to follow shortly.
Like the first Ignite the next will be in the evening from 6:30 – 10:30 pm and the location will, most likely, be the Nassau Inn on Palmer Square once again after their great support for our first event.
If you are interested in presenting now you have even more time to prepare!
Ignite Princeton is focused on sharing your burning ideas – the things that keep you up late at night. the stuff you’d do for free, even if it wasn’t your job. Your obsession. It’s *NOT* the place to be all self promotional or spammy. Presentation ideas that seem too spammy will be rejected, in favor of those that show more passion, interesting-ness, and spark. So be sparky, be irreverent, be fired-up, but please do not be spammy!

Ignite Princeton #1 – Presentations and Photos

For those interested in the Ignite Karaokes that were mentioned as part of the evening, yes they did occur, but we feel that they are something that are best witnessed live and in person so that you can witness the full effect. Join us in October to see that particular piece of madness revisited.

March 4, 2010And man are we tired.
We had a small but enthusiastic turn out for the first Princeton Ignite. With 60 registrations we ended up with 20 no-shows (?! – we think the price point of $0 might be to blame) and over 10 walk-ins.
We started out with a variant on a Make: – build a product out of used business cards and try to sell it inside the room for money. (It was our nod to a crap economy. We decided to create our own.) The winner was an eco-friendly mousetrap which someone paid $5 for! (See photo) Other products offered included: a set of business card holders made from…business cards, an Ignite Innovation card game, and a very large smart phone / business card holder that attaches to your belt. A great way to break the ice and get people in the mood for sharing and fun. (Photos to be posted shortly.)
We had a small slate of presenters this time around, only 8, but we made up for it with the variety of subjects from Healthcare Innovation, to Cocktail Napkin Project Management, and a view of Einstein’s Princeton among them. We also included two rounds of Ignite Karaoke (with a huge debt of gratitude to Alistair Croll forpassing along the karaoke slide decks) which was a genius inclusion demanding audience participation. People were clamoring for more – so we finished out the evening with one of those, too.
The venue was excellent (we used a hotel in the heart of Princeton – the Nassau Inn). The staff were great, easy to work with, and I’d use the venue again.
By the time all was said and done, people were hanging out for another 45 minutes after the event ended still talking (always a good sign). And as they leaving nearly everyone asked when the next one was going to be.
We hope to have some photos and videos posted soon. Thanks to all who came out – we might have to do this again!
